Player Review

Covan had a very solid weekend at the Rubio Long Snapping VEGAS XXIX Event on January 14-15, 2017. Easily one of the most consistent Long Snappers in his class and it honestly surprises me if he DOESN'T win a camp...that is how accurate and consistent he is with his punt snaps. Like to see Covan focus on locking down his spiral and increasing the speed of his legs and ball to make him more of a dominant Long Snapper and ready for the college game. Love to see him over 200 lbs and looking solid by VEGAS 30. Size and speed will be biggest things in order to get him to a 5 Star Rubio Long Snapper.

In just one month, I could see a notable difference in Covan at the Rubio Long Snapping fall camp in GA on December 18th, 2016. Ball is still incredibly accurate but now he is snapping with more power and letting his great form do the work for him. Speed is coming along nicely on the ball, as well as on with his feet. Really impressed and, at this rate, he could be dominating VEGAS XXIX.

Covan had an incredible day at the Rubio Long Snapping fall camp in NC on November 20th, 2016. EASILY one of, if not the, most consistent Long Snappers in his, or any, class. Once Covan catches a groove, which doesn't take long, he just simply doesn't miss. He is like a machine snapping the ball. Over and over, the exact same snap, right in The Rubio Zone. Handles pressure really well. Two things I need to see him focus on are increasing his athleticism and making sure he is snapping with full power to get his ball ALWAYS under .79 at VEGAS XXIX. If he can get those two things adjusted, he could be top five in his class. He has to be a top seed going into VEGAS XXIX to win the whole thing.

All Long Snappers were tested on The Rubio Target. Each Long Snapper was tested on 12 punt snaps where they had three normal snaps, three blocking left, three blocking right, three speed punt snaps (running in from the side and have three seconds to get the ball off once their feet are set) and 12 pat snaps where they had three normal snaps, three blocking left, three blocking right, three speed punt snaps (running in from the side and have three seconds to get the ball off once their feet are set). Once the Long Snapper has completed the test, they earn an RSI which is the fairest and most accurate way to judge a Long Snapper by numbers. Please note: the RSI does not account for athleticism, spiral or mentality.

RSI (Rubio Standard Index): The RSI is the score divided by the average speed on The Rubio Target. You may obtain 2 bonus points for an average of .75-.79, 2 more bonus points for an average of .70-.74 and an additional 2 more bonus points if you average below .70.
