Player Review
Newsome is a solid Long Snapper that did really well at the Rubio Long Snapping VEGAS XXIX EVENT on January 14-15, 2017. He is a large Long Snapper with good power that snaps a smooth ball. Moves well for his size and can be a factor in punt coverage at the next level. Newsome has quick hands and can get the ball back in under .79 for fifteen yards. He has a lot of potential and can definitely snap at the next level.

Newsome was very impressive to me at the Rubio Long Snapping fall camp in NC on November 20, 2016. His body is strong and he can whip the ball back to the punter. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Newsome snapping in the high .6s at VEGAS XXIX. The kid is dripping with potential. I like how he gets back up after the snap and his attitude is good. Focusing on his release point to ensure better accuracy will really move him up the rankings. KEEP A VERY CLOSE EYE ON NEWSOME....he is good and knocking on greatnesses door.
Accomplishments
VEGAS XXIX Average 15 Yard Snap Speed: .78
VEGAS XXIX 40 Time: 5.25
VEGAS XXIX RSI (Rubio Standard Index) from the Rubio Target: 13.58

All Long Snappers were tested on The Rubio Target. Each Long Snapper was tested on 12 punt snaps where they had three normal snaps, three blocking left, three blocking right, three speed punt snaps (running in from the side and have three seconds to get the ball off once their feet are set) and 12 pat snaps where they had three normal snaps, three blocking left, three blocking right, three speed punt snaps (running in from the side and have three seconds to get the ball off once their feet are set). Once the Long Snapper has completed the test, they earn an RSI which is the fairest and most accurate way to judge a Long Snapper by numbers. Please note: the RSI does not account for athleticism, spiral or mentality.

RSI (Rubio Standard Index): The RSI is the score divided by the average speed on The Rubio Target. You may obtain 2 bonus points for an average of .75-.79, 2 more bonus points for an average of .70-.74 and an additional 2 more bonus points if you average below .70.
