Player Review

Derek did well at the Rubio Long Snapping VEGAS XXIX Event on January 14-15, 2017. He is a thick and powerful Long Snapper with good overall form that uses his body well throughout the process. Love to see him make sure he is not adjusting his right hand prior to the snap as that will impact his ball (spiral). Also, working on his athleticism and controlling his body more will push him way up the rankings. He can definitely snap a nice, smooth ball and could move into the final at VEGAS 30 by increasing his speed which will push up his RSI. Great attitude and listens well.

Each Long Snapper was tested on 12 punt snaps where they had three normal snaps, three blocking left, three blocking right, three speed punt snaps (running in from the side and have three seconds to get the ball off once their feet are set) and 12 pat snaps where they had three normal snaps, three blocking left, three blocking right, three speed punt snaps (running in from the side and have three seconds to get the ball off once their feet are set). Once the Long Snapper has completed the test, they earn an RSI which is the fairest and most accurate way to judge a Long Snapper by numbers. Please note: the RSI does not account for athleticism, spiral or mentality.

RSI (Rubio Standard Index): The RSI is the score divided by the average speed on The Rubio Target. You may obtain 2 bonus points for an average of .75-.79, 2 more bonus points for an average of .70-.74 and an additional 2 more bonus points if you average below .70.
